Rwanda and Djibouti sign a partnership MoU in the areas of gender equality, Family Promotion, Women Empowerment and Child rights protection
Kigali-11 February 2019- The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Tuesday 11 February 2019 following a visit by Rwanda’s Minister of Gender and Family Promotion Amb. Soline Nyirahabimana to Djibouti. The Minister was accompanied by the Chief Gender Monitor at the Gender Monitoring Office Mrs. Rose Rwabuhihi. They were welcomed by Hon. Moumina Houmed Hassan, Minister for Women and Family of Djibouti.
The MoU for strengthening existing partnership was signed by Amb. Soline Nyirahabimana Soline and her counterpart Hon. Moumina on Djibouti side.
Amb.Soline said: ‘On behalf of the Rwandan Government, I would like to reaffirm our willingness to collaborate with the Government of the Republic of Djibouti, in particular with the Ministry of Family and Women, to promote gender equality, empowerment of women and men. women and the protection of the rights of the child.’
The partnership between Rwanda and Djibouti follows the latter’s delegation visit to Rwanda in May last year.
It also comes after an official visit held in Djibouti by Rwanda’s First Lady in April 2019. During this visit, HE Jeanette KAGAME evoked and encouraged her counterpart HE Kadra Mahamoud Haïd a give-and-take between the two countries, particularly in the areas of gender equality, family promotion, women empowerment and child protection
