Rwanda launches Joining Forces Alliance to strengthen child protection
Kigali, 13 October 2026 – Minister Uwimana Consolée officially launched Rwanda’s chapter of Joining Forces, the global child rights alliance bringing together child-focused organisations to strengthen collective action, maximise impact for children’s rights and end all forms of violence against children.
The alliance aims to consolidate expertise, resources and efforts to ensure that every child grows up safe, protected and able to enjoy their rights.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Uwimana Consolée reaffirmed the Government of Rwanda’s commitment to the partnership and welcomed its contribution to national child protection efforts. She encouraged the coalition to work closely with relevant government institutions, non-governmental organisations and existing child protection structures.
The Minister emphasised the importance of complementing ongoing initiatives, avoiding duplication and promoting sustainable solutions to the challenges children face.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen violence prevention, improve the identification and reporting of abuse, ensure timely support for affected children, and raise community awareness about the collective responsibility to protect children from violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect.
The Minister also stressed that children must be heard and meaningfully involved in decisions affecting their lives. Their perspectives and experiences should inform the solutions and actions designed to protect their rights and wellbeing.
Through the Joining Forces partnership, participating organisations and national stakeholders aim to strengthen coordination, support existing child protection efforts and advance a shared commitment to ending violence against children in Rwanda.
The launch marks an important step towards reinforcing collaboration among child-focused organisations and partners, with children’s rights, voices and protection at the centre of collective action.
