Minister Uwimana Consolee joins Kinyababa residents to launch 2027A agricultural season

  News

Burera District– Minister Uwimana Consolée joined residents of Kinyababa Sector in Burera District to launch the 2027A agricultural season, during which they planted maize on 48 hectares of consolidated farmland.

Following the community planting activity, the Minister held a discussion with residents, urging them to increase agricultural productivity as a means of improving livelihoods, promoting household development and combating malnutrition.

She encouraged family members to work together, emphasising the importance of family cohesion in ensuring that agricultural production benefits every member of the family. Increased productivity, she noted, can contribute to improved household wellbeing and sustainable development.

Minister Uwimana also called on residents to actively fight the consumption and sale of kanyanga and other illicit alcoholic beverages, warning that these drinks undermine people’s ability to work, contribute to insecurity and deepen poverty within families. She urged residents to report individuals involved in selling these illicit and substandard alcoholic beverages to the relevant authorities, highlighting the importance of community participation in addressing the problem.

Minister said that the launch of the 2027A planting season reflects ongoing efforts to promote agricultural production and strengthen food and nutrition security through community engagement and collective action.

Residents expressed their commitment to working together to increase agricultural productivity, improve household food security and nutrition, and ensure that farming benefits their families. They also committed to contributing to community efforts to combat the sale and consumption of illegal and substandard alcoholic beverages in order to promote healthier, safer and more productive communities.
