“What we sow in our children as a family is what we reap as a Nation” Minister Nyirasafari

The Family is the foundation of the society and parents should remember they have the responsibility to ensure stability and raise their children in the right path; nurturing the future generations thus the future of the whole nation. Minister Nyirasafari Esperance of Gender and Family Promotion made this call during the launch of the Family week on this 07 November, 2016 in Ruhango District. The event was organized by ADEPR, the leading Pentecostal Church in Rwanda and brought together different Government and church leaders.

Minister Nyirasafari reiterated that responsible and positive parenting is key to stable families and nations; “we cannot talk about sustainable development of our country when we still have unstable families, whereby children rights are not observed and protected.” Minister Nyirasafari said. The Minister seized the opportunity to remind parents to be responsible bearing in mind that they are fostering the future of the country. Quoting a Bible scripture in Proverbs 11:29 she said “Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind.” emphasizing on the key responsibility of the family which is to sow positive values in children for the better future of Rwanda.

The Legal Representative of ADEPR, Bishop Jean Sibomana informed that the Family week was organized to increase the contribution of the church in the promotion of family sustainability, “we have a role to play in supporting families towards their well-being and development.” The Bishop informed that activities planned for the week include supporting vulnerable families to graduate financially, sensitizing communities on healthy nutrition and access to health services.

During the launch, ADEPR officially offered their contribution to the payment of health insurance fees for 300 people in Ruhango District.
