416 Computers offered to sectors to facilitate OVCs database

Minister in hand over ceremony

Tuesday, 6th July 2010 at Primature conference room, Honorable Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Dr Jeanne d’Arc MUJAWAMARIYA, officiated the ceremony to hand over Computers to the staff in charge of social affairs at Sectors countrywide.

In her opening remarks, the Minister reminded the audience that the process of identification of Orphans and vulnerable children was conducted since 2009, at Umudugudu level.

In this identification process, all the people including children themselves from every village participated in this activity conducted across the country.
“The information gathered during the identification process will help to have a database and help to monitor the services that are provided by different partners to Orphans and Vulnerable children.” The Minister said.

Various Sectors faced challenges of entering the OVC data collected from its Villages.  That is why MIGEPROF in partnership with Global Fund Project offered 1 computer for each Sector to facilitate in recording the information gathered during the Community Work.

During the launching, Gasabo & Kicukiro received their computers while other districts upcountry had received theirs a week earlier. Districts signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry about the computers’ utilization and maintenance.
