Tuesday, 21^st June 2010, at Hotel Le Printemps, different stakeholders in the area of Gender met to discuss the way to establish a bureau of gender cluster made up of a Chair, Co-chair and secretariat.

In her opening remarks , the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Dr Jeanne d’Arc MUJAWAMARIYA, reminded the participants that this cluster is for all those who intervene in the area of gender, to help avoid duplication, create synergy among partners and to set up a coordination mechanism.

Gender cluster mission is to facilitate the collaboration and coordination of all interventions in area of gender by sharing experiences, generating new ideas, identifying gaps, lobbying and advocating for achieving gender equity and equality in all sectors across the country”.

The meeting came up with MIGEPROF as the chair and the coordinator of Gender cluster as its secretariat, while the Co-chair will be determined by MINECOFIN, they also defined the roles and responsibilities for the gender cluster bureau.

The participants, Government and civil society institutions representatives left with a clear understanding of their duties, their responsibilities in promoting gender equity and equality across all sectors as defined in EDPRS strategy.
